The eye of perceptive reality
What is perception?
Subjectivity or is it a shared value? Learnt behaviour or classical conditioning?
I perceive my world as my family, my loved ones and my own clarity. However clarity can only be reached through analysis and self questioning, so perception must be underpinned by our individual experiences of the world.
When I look at the painting, I do not see a part of a face…I see a mind set. I see an external facet of the subject. Don’t we all hide many of our faces from the world? We show and externalise only what we feel will be accepted. Only what we feel brave enough or able to present to others. I feel the painting captures the mystery and intrigue of this person. I feel it encourages questioning and provokes fair debate on internal vs external reality. Are we always what we show or do we keep part of ourselves hidden? Self defence mechanism maybe…or simple psychology of human nature.
The mind of a deep thinker…or complete rubbish…it is all down to interpretation and perception…
